A friend sent me this link and I enjoyed what Elizabeth Gilbert had to share about the creative process -- Wanted to share with you all.

Certainly a much healthier way to participate in the creative process.  I think that when I'm on a roll I benchpress the thought of wow is me, and when I fall in the dumper it's, o god, not again.  To opt for a median share is not a bad out at all!

Very funny, chemical-engineering block!
No sympathy for her personal dilemma, though. Don't imagine you're weeping for her either, Lynn!
Love the poem storm looking for another poet.
How the heck can she make up OR remember such a long monologue so perfectly? Now I really hate her.
Enjoyed the whole talk, very thought-provoking. I agree with her that it's healthier to think of genius as external rather than internal. Healthier yet, I think, to dispense with the whole concept, and see it simply as good luck for both parties when something you do for your own purposes ends up giving pleasure to anyone else. - Tom

No.  Not weeping here for her dilemma, but neither, I think, was she.  Yes, 'dispense with the whole concept' would/could be a good thing . . . but do you?  can you?  and damn, man, if you can, then I'm loading my squirt gun up with, I dunno, something tricky, like like, like, [where is that genius when you need her?]

I'm there with you, ron [and how cool to see you on site here at pc!].  Seems built in to my genetic code to either puff up or deflate, depending.  I liked this gal's talk.  And I like the idea of showing up for work everyday, doing my part, hoping for chance to be good, the ideas to roll, the images to connect and keep coming.
