six more

totalling
fifty seven

so far

murdered by rivals
linked to
the ruling regime

buses of supporters
gunned down on their way
to ensure the enlistment of
a new candidate

Philippine agencies
report today
they fear more lives
will be in jeopardy

while Canadian polls rely
most heavily
on increasing voter apathy

How powerfully you show that everything can depend upon where we are born in this small world

I've often wondered why democracy frightens some people so badly.  All they have to do is look at how little it's used by those who have it.  Powerful poem.

A lot of punch, Stella, esp. at top and last S. Wonder if info in center can be pruned, maybe radically, or not. Tom

Stella, Topical is hard to pull off. The sarcasm sort of works, but how does voter apathy help the polls?

It is note worthy, that in the US, this incident has received hardly any coverage.

Stella, this is fine indeed.  What a pen and bravo for pointing it so fiercely.

It's curious how slippery words like democracy and polls and elected government have become....
