he smelled

of
coffee,

and
cigarettes…

of
cheap liquor,

and
cheaper women.

he
liked to sleep

with
his window open.

the
snippets of talk

sounded
like poetry to him.

“of
course, i can’t…”

“but,
maybe i should…”

“it’s
all a cheat…”

he’d
lie there, thinking

you’re
totally right…

about
all of it.
