  Among the Locals
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:46:07 AM » by JOE FEARN
Among the Locals.

We talked of Evolution,
from the first plip,
to the final plop,

in the bar down by the docks;
Darwin’s waiting room was full.

‘Real men’ jokes
prompted your gay brother’s wicked haiku:

The Isle of Man
Homosexual
Is banned from
Entering Douglas.

Two graduates from
the Martin Bormann charm school
liked your tits,

and I could hear your essay
‘Spitting on Hegel’
ticking away in your rucksack.

Joe, you've got a great knack for surprise that yields light rather than frustration. A very rich tableau. Tom

Joe, still reading and enjoying this. The essay title a great opportunity, have to say the "Hegel" doesn't mean anything to me, a gap in my education. Tom

Joe--Really like the picture you paint here. Agree with Tom that 'Hegel' goes over my head. Unfortunately I think I know some of the people you are talking about here.

thanks everyone. the essay title is for real; a book (in Spanish) by a feminist slagging the philosopher George Hegel on his views on women.
