he smelled

he smelled
of
coffee,
and
cigarettes…
of
cheap liquor,
and
cheaper women.
he
liked to sleep
with
his window open.
the
snippets of talk
sounded
like poetry to him.
“of
course, i can’t…”
“but,
maybe i should…”
“it’s
all a cheat…”
he’d
lie there, thinking
you’re
totally right…
about
all of it.
