  One Cypress, Skinny but Loud

whistles
tambourines
small bells &
squeaky hinges --

how many
grackles are
in that tree?

Rick,

this got me,
banged a pot lid upside my head.
I love it when that happens.

You turned it sideways and got a meta4!  Cool.

At first I thought, what the heck does this mean. Then I looked up grackles, learned a new word today and said WOW! A very enjoyable poem. Thanks for introducing me to a new word. REMEMBERED now!

Isn't grackles a great word?  You can't say it without sounding like one.

Grackles, eh? What would Wallace Stevens say? (That is the same bird, isn't it?)

Lovely poem, but really not sure about that title.

Cheers

Short, but oh so very sweet, Rick. A pick.

David, would it help to know that a cypress tree has very close branches and that birds roosting inside it can't be seen?

Well there you go, I thought I'd read somewhere that grackle was a North American word for what I think of as a blackbird, but it turns out to be an indigenous wee beastie.

Rick, I know what you mean about the cypress, but the skinny made me think of coffee. Completely wrong, I see now.

Cheers

Skinny coffee?  I think we have a dialect gap here.

Skinny latte? No? I could have sworn I'd seen it in Frasier. (Usually ordered by Niles.)
