  Formatting Poems
« on: August 16, 2010, 08:27:25 AM » by silent lotus

if you are on a Apple Computer then i offer this:

create your formatted writing in a WORD document

with the WORD document open
then open the application called GRAB  ( comes standard on an Apple )

at the top of your screen to the right of the Apple Icon choose CAPTURE
and from the drop down window choose SELECTION

now you can use your cursor to crop the image you want tot save

then save the file to your hard drive and you will have a tiff
which you can open in PhotoShop and save as a jpg
and can more precisely crop it if you so desire

then post it to a photo archive on the web
like Flickr or Photocamel or Photobucket etc etc

use the link for the image
to post/upload  it to Poetry Circle

once you get used to this ......it takes less than 5 minutes to complete

Mac user here.  How is this different/better than doing a copy and paste from Word or Pages, which is what I did already?

Thanks for the info!

dear Carol

my experience is that every web software handles things in ways that i know nothing about
and that my method retains exactly what you had in Word or Pages including the Font & Color.
Nothing gets lost !

not every computer has a thousand and one fonts on it .....certainly Windows does not have
Apple Fonts ( such as Apple Chancery etc etc etc )

so if you have your name and poem title ......© ....etc etc etc are in the jpg
and someone takes your poem onto their hard drive or posts it somewhere else on the web
without your knowing ......you have some hope that it will remain so as you had intended.

good point
I never imagined that people would be reposting poems or "filing" them
